SCREENPRINTING WORKSHOPS: Spring/Summer 2010

Hello and thanks for visting our Screenprint Workshops page!
Below you will read about our upcoming schedule as well as descriptions for each workshop and all that is taught.

Screenprinting workshops are taught in three levels, Basic, Intermediate and Advanced. Each workshop level builds upon the skills of the preceding course. Each session represents all 3 workshops to be taken during a 3 day period. Small class sizes ensure one-one-one attention from Peter, experienced screenprinting instructor, commercial printer, graphic designer and owner of Polluted Eyeball (Screenprint Studio).
All workshop classes begin at 6:30pm and end at 9:30pm.

Workshop Package Special: With your purchase of these workshops each student will receive the following:
(1) 14” squeegee
(1) 20” x 24” screen (156 or 230 mesh count)
3 FREE studio rental hours*
Total Cost: $280.00

JULY:
Session A: 13th - 15th (waterbase only)
Session B: 20th - 22nd (waterbase only)
Session C: 27th - 29th (tee shirt press only)

AUGUST:
Workshops are closed for the entire month

Sessions A and B of each month concentrate on paper printing (see: posters, social announcements). However, we do cover 1 color waterbase printing for tee shirts as well.

Sessions C of each month concentrate on tee shirt printing via use of multi-color printing presses.

Basics Course: Learn the essentials of screenprinting from terminology to the bare bones breakdown of the physical printing process.

Skills taught include:
* Film choice
* Screen mesh count selection
* Emulsions, exposures, and preparation of screens for printing
* Ink choice based on project
* Squeegee densities
* Home or apartment screenprinting setup
* Printing a one-color image (standard artwork), start-to-finish

Materials provided for use in class include: Practice paper, ink, screens & squeegees. Students will leave class with one finished one-color screenprint.

Intermediate Course: Build upon your basic knowledge of screenprinting tenets (principles) by introducing more advanced techniques into your repertoire.

Skills taught include:
* Color separation basics via Photoshop and Illustrator
* Film output for standard artwork
* Film set-up for multi-color registration
* Pre-exposure of screens
* Creating registration guides and prepping a print area
* Printing a two-color image on paper from start-to-finish

Materials provided for use in class include: A selection of ready-for-use screens w/images, paper, ink, squeegees, ink spreaders. Each student will leave class with a completed two-color screenprint.

Advanced Course: This final class focuses on Halftones and CMYK imagery. Students will select a Black and White photograph and email it to the studio prior to class. Peter will create the image as a halftone and output the film. The first part of class will concentrate on the below mentioned skills. Then students will prepare, expose and prep their screen for printing, as taught at the beginning and intermediate level.

Skills taught include:
* Output of film for Halftones, CMYK imagery
* Image Resolutions
* Halftone LPI / Angles
* Proper squeegee durometers and blade angles
* Process Inks

Students leave class with one completed black and white photorealistic screenprint and the following materials: (1) 14” squeegee, (1) 20” x 24” screen (156 or 230 mesh count)

Workshop Registration: In order to secure a spot in upcoming workshops a 50% deposit is required. Payments can be made using paypal.com. The remaining balance is to be paid at the start of the first workshop.
